The GUI that allows users to update reference data is configured in:

  * app/config/Settings-Ref``Data.php

Ideas

 * For managing colors: Create a new reference table with: object type, id, color
 * Add a column column to reference tables
 * Allow site-admins to update certain fields on tables that only root can update
